Meet Dr. Bowen

Expertise. Experience. Excellence.

A physician-led approach to cosmetic, regenerative, and performance medicine.

Dr. Robert Bowen brings more than four decades of medical experience to the field of aesthetic and regenerative medicine.

His mission is to provide compassionate, personalized, and state-of-the-art care by utilizing the latest advancements in medical technology and treatment.

This is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Every patient is evaluated individually, with treatment plans built around their goals, physiology, and long-term outcomes.

The goal is simple. Help patients look better, feel better, and function at a higher level.

Dr. Robert Bowen is a physician specializing in cosmetic medicine, body contouring, and regenerative medicine.

He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia. He went on to complete fellowships in Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine at West Virginia University.

He has been in private practice in Martinsburg since 1984.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Bowen currently serves as a Professor of Medicine and as the Director of the Center for Sleep Medicine at Berkeley Medical Center. He is also the former Medical Director of the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.

This diverse clinical background allows him to approach patient care with a deeper understanding of how the body functions as a whole.

Experience and Credentials

Dr. Bowen is one of the first physicians in the United States to complete a fellowship in aesthetic medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

He is board certified in cosmetic laser surgery by the American Board of Laser Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Philosophy of Care

Every patient is different. Treatment should reflect that.

At this practice, care is built around understanding the underlying factors that affect how you look and feel. Instead of focusing only on symptoms, Dr. Bowen evaluates the full picture.

Treatment is guided by a few core principles:

The goal is not to do more treatments. It is to do the right treatments for each individual patient.

Beyond Medicine: A Passion for Performance

For Dr. Robert Bowen, medicine and athletics have always gone hand in hand.

A lifelong student of human performance, recovery, and resilience, Dr. Bowen has spent decades competing as a nationally and internationally ranked Masters sprinter while also building a distinguished career in pulmonary, sleep, regenerative, and performance medicine.

He has competed in sprint and relay events well into his seventies, earning medals at national and World Masters competitions along the way. His commitment to training, discipline, and long-term performance continues to shape both his life and his philosophy of care.

That perspective influences how he approaches patient wellness today. Dr. Bowen believes the body has an incredible capacity to adapt, recover, and perform at a high level when given the right support and guidance.

Whether working with athletes, professionals, or patients simply wanting to feel better and age well, his focus remains the same: helping people improve energy, resilience, recovery, confidence, and overall quality of life through a personalized, physician-led approach.

To Dr. Bowen, performance is not just about competition. It is about continuing to live fully, actively, and purposefully at every stage of life.

Why Physician-Led Care Matters

There is a meaningful difference between physician-led care and high-volume, procedure-driven treatment models.

That difference affects both safety and results.

When your care is physician-led:

This level of oversight is especially important in areas such as regenerative medicine, sexual health, hormone-related therapies, and advanced laser treatments.

If you are investing in your health and appearance, the level of expertise guiding your care matters.
