Dermal Fillers
Enhance Your Natural Features
Every person is born beautiful. However, as we get older, we may find there are some facial features we would like to ‘tweak’ or adjust based on our own personal aesthetic.
One of the most versatile tools we have at our disposal at Dr. Robert Bowen is dermal filler injection.
Whether your goal is facial contouring, anti-aging or simply wanting more of a refreshed look, we can design a treatment plan to meet your unique needs and help you feel your most confident.

Frequently Asked Questions
HOW SHOULD I GET READY FOR TREATMENT WITH DERMAL FILLER?
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least a week before your appointment. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve, garlic supplements, Vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, and omega-3 or fish oil capsules. As always, if you are taking any of these medications under direction of a doctor, speak to him or her before discontinuing use.
- Inform us if you have a history of cold sores or Perioral Herpes before your appointment so that anti-viral medication can be made available to you
- Avoid alcohol in the 24 hours before your appointment, as it increases the risk of bleeding and bruising.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO AFTER TREATMENT?
Hands off your face! Do not manipulate the area(s) treated with filler.
If you SEE a lump, bump or asymmetry in your results, please make an appointment w/ Dr. Bowen so that he can evaluate and address the issue.
If you experience "blanching" (skin color being lighter or dusky), pain or feeling "hot" at or around the injection site, please contact the office. After hours, please go to Urgent Care for assessment.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTOX AND FILLER?
One of the most common questions we receive at Dr. Robert Bowen is the difference between Botox and filler.
Botox is a brand of "neuromodulator" or "neurotoxin" which relaxes the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles to form. Conversely, filler helps lift and "fill" areas that have lost volume or show wrinkles. Most of the time, it is a combination of both of these that truly produce the most pleasing results.
