Regenerative Stem Cell Procedure for Men

The Caverstem procedure is similar to the Priapus Shot® (P Shot) but instead of using growth factors harvested from drawing a blood sample, stem cells are harvested from a patient’s bone marrow and then injected into the vascular structure of the penis.

 

This results in an even more robust increase in blood flow. As this procedure is minimally more invasive and more costly, it is generally reserved for more difficult issues of erectile function. A questionnaire used to assess the severity of erectile function is the sexual health inventory for men (SHIM). There are 5 questions with responses from 1 (substantial impairment) to 5 (excellent function).  A study of 140 men with erectile function complaints resulted in an improvement of 8-10 points on average. With either the P Shot or wave therapy used alone the average is 4-5 points.
